How to Unconditionally Love Yourself

Now is the time to TRANSFORM your life

You are here because you want to thrive and become the best version of yourself possible (and the BEST version of yourself IS possible - I know sometimes it is hard to see that).

During Fresh Start February, we have been walking through the 10 steps to thriving. 10 ways that you can push yourself towards that path to thriving.

Remember, thriving is a journey not a destination. Taking one step forward is one step on that path. You don’t have to “already be thriving.” You can be on your journey. Accept where you are on your journey and that will allow you to keep moving forward (accepting where you are does not mean that you are ok with where you are and you will stay there).

Today, we discussed self love. Because self love is the FOUNDATION to every single one of the steps that we are talking about during this event. Self love

We talked about the steps you can be taking to be more connected to your self love, to put the work into your awareness when it comes to loving yourself, and creating a plan to make sure you are tapped into your love on the daily.

For reference, here are the steps here (we jump into them in more detail in the video):

  1. Explore what self love FEELS like.
  2. Explore what self love LOOKS like.
  3. Identify the experiences that get in the way of loving yourself.
  4. Identify the thoughts that get in the way of loving yourself.
  5. Create a self love plan that gives you the space you need to practice self love
  6. Execute it daily. Even if it is just a small moment, 5 minutes, 1 minute. Be intentional about it.
  7. Do a self love monthly check-in. How are you doing?
  8. Make necessary tweaks in your self love plan. What is getting in your way? What is working?

How to break down your BIG goals so you CRUSH them in less time

Now is the time to TRANSFORM your life

(and create the life you deserve).

Get your FREE checklist of 10 ACTION-STEPS to INSPIRE BIG CHANGE and start paving your path to THRIVING.

A big piece of thriving and moving forward in your life is creating goals that you actually are going to reach. Goals that push you, but that are manageable. Goals that don’t intimidate you or feel TOO BIG so they end up paralyzing you and you don’t make ANY progress.

I am going to walk you through the 9 steps to creating goals that will ensure that you CRUSH any goal you set and keeps you coming back for more.

Here are the steps that I cover in today’s video:

  1. Choose a desire off of your list - the one that you most want to work towards
  2. Think about what could be accomplished in 90 days
  3. Choose 2 separate “projects” that will lead you to your 90-day goal
  4. Choose a SPRINT for 2 weeks
  5. Choose specific smaller sprint activities for each of your sprints
  6. Execute your sprint activities DAILY
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 every 2 weeks
  8. After the 90 days, check in with your goals
  9. Set a new 90-day goal based on the progress you have made

How to Infuse your Values in Daily Life

Now is the time to TRANSFORM your life

(and create the life you deserve).

Get your FREE checklist of 10 ACTION-STEPS to INSPIRE BIG CHANGE and start paving your path to THRIVING.

When you are out of alignment with your values aka not staying true to them, not infusing them into your life, and not LIVING life by your CORE values, then you are NOT thriving.

And you know I’m all about thriving. I’ve said it time and time again.

So when you are out of alignment, how the heck do you get back into it.

Today’s video is all about how to infuse your values into daily life so that you can get back into alignment with your values.

Here are the 7 steps (I go into greater detail in the video of course):

1.  Connect to your VALUES - journal about what is important to you, what is essential in your life.

2. Make a MASTER CORE VALUES list.

3. Each night before you go to bed choose 3 that you want in your day the next day

4. Choose 1 action for each - how are you going to make sure you are connecting to that value during the day

5. Make a plan WHEN you are going to do this action

6. Do it. Seriously. Just do it. EXECUTE.

7. Repeat. (seeing a pattern here?)

How to Connect to your Desires

Now is the time to TRANSFORM your life

(and create the life you deserve).

Get your FREE checklist of 10 ACTION-STEPS to INSPIRE BIG CHANGE and start paving your path to THRIVING.

In order to thrive, you need to be connected to what you desire most in your life.

And this can be a huge laundry list of things. And it can be one thing (although I push you to think of a LOT of desires because I believe that you deserve all that you want in your life).

Here I am going to walk you through my SEVEN steps to becoming wholly connected to your desires so that you may actually achieve them and move a huge LEAP towards thriving (not just a step in these parts!).

I walk you through each of them in the video, but here is the list for reference:

  1. Do a brain dump of everything that you want in your life.
  2. Choose 25.
  3. Write them as though they have already happened.
  4. Visualize yourself achieving those desires.
  5. Write what it feels like to have those desires.
  6. Take action.
  7. Repeat.

How to Prepare for Change

Now is the time to TRANSFORM your life

(and create the life you deserve).

Get your FREE checklist of 10 ACTION-STEPS to INSPIRE BIG CHANGE and start paving your path to THRIVING.

You’re here because you want to change something in your life. There is an area in your life that you are not satisfied with. An area of your life where you are not thriving and you are ready to thrive.

You’ve said, “I want to change.” But now it’s the actual work that you’ve got to put in to ensure that you’re going to make that change.

I am going to walk you through 10 steps to thrive (actually there are a lot more, but to make it simple, I’m just focusing on 10 for the purpose of this video series).

The first: PREPARE.

I am going to walk you through three aspects of preparing for change (the first is REAL obvious).

YOU DESERVE TO THRIVE!

Are you ready for BIG CHANGE in your life but unsure of where to start?

I have the perfect thing for you..

Download my FREE CHECKLIST: 10 action-steps to inspire BIG CHANGE and start paving your path to THRIVING.

  1. Prepare - Ok, I know I’m talking about the steps to preparing and I totally just named the first step as Prepare, but that is how important it is. You have GOT to do the preparation work and COMMIT to it if you want to make changes in your life. Ask yourself a few questions:
    • How does change affect you? How do you react to change? Do you resist it? Do you welcome it?
    • What changes do you want to make?

  1. Identify your obstacles - There have been obstacles in your life. There will be obstacles in the future. So it is really important to acknowledge those obstacles so that you can create your plan (heads up - that’s the next step) to make sure these obstacles do not get in your way. Because you are READY for change. You are committed to it. You actually want to make it happen this time and you do not want any obstacles in your way. This is your time to become aware of the obstacles in your life that are hindering you from thriving.
    • What obstacles have gotten in front of you in the past? Have stopped you from getting what you want?
    • What obstacles could get in the way in the future? Imagine the possibilities.

  1. Make a plan - This is KEY (and I walk you through exactly how I do it with a real life example in the video) to your success. Make a plan for overcoming your obstacles. You’ll see this as a theme in all my work, all my steps to thriving, making plans to make sure that you are successful and that you get what you want. Because that is why you are here right? To thrive. And you’ve got to make a plan to do that. So identifying your obstacles to thriving is just making that path a little less treacherous, because it feels that way sometimes right?! Right. So make a plan.
    • How have you tackled obstacles in the past? Were you successful? Were you not successful? Why or why not? What got in the way of you being successful?
    • How will you overcome the obstacles in your future? How do you KNOW you will be successful?

You’re holding on too tightly: How to release your past hurts

You’re holding on too tightly: How to release your past hurts

Are you ready for BIG CHANGE in your life but unsure of where to start?

I have the perfect thing for you..

Download my FREE CHECKLIST: 10 action-steps to inspire BIG CHANGE and start paving your path to THRIVING.

Holding on to your past hurts from others can be toxic.

Trust me, I know from experience.

When you have been hurt, or wronged, or taken advantage of, it tends to stick with you. I don’t know about you, but for me, it causes me to ruminate about it (thinking about it constantly in different ways) and worry about it (worrying about the past - what about me made this happen?, present - am I good enough?  and future - will it happen again?) incessantly.

So I know how important it is to let go of the things that have hurt us.

But it’s not easy.

In fact, it can be one of the hardest things to do. It takes us being vulnerable with ourselves and others. It takes forgiveness and faith in ourselves that we are good enough. It takes patience and kindness.

In summary, it takes a WHOLE lot to let go of pain.

So I wanted to help you a little bit. It’s not going to cure it, but it will give you a framework to walk through the act of letting go, the act of forgiving, the act of MOVING ON so that you can focus on YOU rather than the past.

Here are 5 steps to releasing your past hurts.

YOU DESERVE TO THRIVE!

Get your FREE checklist of 10 ACTION-STEPS to INSPIRE BIG CHANGE and start paving your path to THRIVING.

1. Acknowledge the hurts.

Oftentimes the reasons why things stay with us the longest is because we do not acknowledge the way that they made us feel. For example, I had a few very good friends not even tell me they weren’t going to come to my wedding (these were very good friends, who I wouldn’t even have questioned would come, and I found out through the reply card in the mail - not through a phone call or even a text, and one didn’t even reply). I was so angry. Really angry. And I held on to it for a long time (a year at least - and I know that’s not a long time in the grand scheme of life, but it felt like a long time to me for this particular hurt) But when I looked at the anger, what was really beneath it, was hurt. It made me feel like I wasn’t liked (which of course is a really hard thing to feel, especially when friendships was already something I was sensitive about). It was fear of disconnection (and for someone who’s 3 main core desired feelings includes CONNECTED) this one hurt the most. It’s important to acknowledging the real pain beneath, not the anger which tends to mask the pain.

2. Give them space.

This is really hard to do and super intimidating, but just FEEL the hurt. Just sit with it for awhile. Let it sink in. Let it know that it is valid. We often try to push our feelings away, tell ourselves that we should not feel a certain way, but that just allows those feelings to grow, eat away at us, bring us down. Giving our hurts space, allows us to feel validated and when we feel validated it makes it easier to then move forward and release those feelings and hurts.

3. Communicate your feelings.

I encourage you to talk with the person about it. This can be super scary because you have to be vulnerable and vulnerability is freakin HARD to do a lot of the time (I wanted to write sometimes there, but had to be honest with myself, it’s hard a LOT of the time, not just sometimes). It can be “unsafe” because you don’t know how the person will react to or accept your pain. They may try to argue against it. They may be super defensive. Or they may just absorb it and apologize. They may feel your hurt. No matter if they knew of it or not, this is a big step. And if you cannot talk to the person about it, write them a letter. It doesn’t mean you have to send it (but I encourage you, if you can, do it - and by can I mean, if you know their address or email address), but just get your feelings out on paper (or on the computer, but I do encourage you to write it - there is something special and releasing about expressing yourself on paper).

4. Release it.

Big step. Let it go. Create some sort of ritual where you let it go. Maybe you do some deep breathing around the mantra of let it go or release (this one can be really powerful - I encourage you to continue the deep breathing for as long as you can physically feel it let go from your body, because you WILL feel this). Maybe you write it on a piece of paper and throw it into a fire. Or put it into a balloon and release it into the sky (although I’m so not for littering - so maybe they have biodegradable balloons these days or something that won’t hurt a bird or land in the ocean). Whatever resonates for you, do it. Take the time and do it. Set aside a special time for you to be intentional about your release.

5. Replace it.

Brainstorm what you can do that will be the opposite of how the past hurt made you feel. For example, my earlier example made me feel disconnected. So I made it a point to feel connected. It doesn’t mean I have to feel connected with the person(s) that hurt me, but feel connected with another. Truly connected. This meant reaching out and spending more time with people that I knew DID value me. Choose to spend your time focusing on the feelings that you want to feel rather than sticking with the feelings that you did NOT want to feel. Replace those feelings, counteract those feelings, CHALLENGE those feelings with good ones. That is why I make this the last step, because acknowledging and feeling your feelings is such a crucial step to the releasing process. Often we skip to this step and try to cover up our feelings with good feelings, which only serves to mask the hurt. This has to be the last step, after the acknowledging, feeling, communicating, and releasing.

This is explored extensively in the fifth module, Release, of my course, Deserve to Thrive (learn more below). Through targeted questioning, I help you discover your past hurts/experiences/stories and limiting beliefs/schemas and take you through a step-by-step in depth process of letting them go and replacing them with more meaningful and life-giving beliefs/stories.
